Avoca Shade Systems - "The Coolest Protection Under
the Sun"
Avoca
Shade Systems is a design/build company specializing in
the sales and installation of Shade Sails; unique UV protection
systems that are so widely used in Australia they are considered
a fixed part of the landscape.
These shade systems were first introduced into the Australian
market about 25 years ago and due to the continuing depletion
of the ozone layer and the rising rates of skin cancer,
demand has grown considerably as more people become aware
of the benefits of these amazing systems.
Health
Canada states that the occurrence of skin cancer in Canada
has been increasing at a fairly constant rate over the last
30 years with approximately 80,000 new cases reported every
year. The main cause of skin cancer is exposure to ultraviolet
radiation, or UV rays, and it is due to this fact that,
in Australia, shade systems have become mandatory in most
schools, city councils, daycare centres and corporations.

Sail Fabric and Construction
Avoca
Shade Systems exclusively uses "Rainbow Shade
Z16" shade cloth fabric as it has consistently
proven itself under the harshest Australian conditions
for the last 18 years and has shown that it retains
its UV protection properties as well as its colour
whilst maintaining shape and form well past the manufacturer's
10 year warranty. The fabric has received the best
test results in Australia (under Australian Standards
AS 4174-1994) and is highly recommended and approved
by engineers, architects and shade sail manufacturers
for its long term strength, quality and colour retention.
Our
sails are manufactured in Australia by a company that
has 25 years of experience in making yacht sails and
for the last 20 years their expertise has also been
turned to shade sail production. All stainless steel
fittings and perimeter cable are of 316 marine grade
steel and will not rust or corrode when exposed to
the elements. Thread used in sail construction is
German-made and carries the same 10 year warranty
as all other components.
The
partnership of Avoca Shade Systems and Rainbow Shade
Z16 fabric is one built on excellence in providing
innovative shade system solutions for our commercial
and residential clients.
Anchor
points for sail installation are typically 4 ½"
Schedule 40 steel pipes (powder-coated or galvanized),
6"-8" pressure-treated posts, existing buildings
or a combination of these; this depends upon individual
installation specifications. For larger commercial
applications engineered structures may be employed.
